First things first, what is positive energy? “You experience and create all kinds of different energies that affect how you feel and what you accomplish throughout your day. Some energies are powerful and easily recognizable, while others are more subtle and often only intuitively felt. I believe it’s fair to say that everything is, in a sense, energy.
The things you say, the things you think, the things you do—even the things you don’t do—all produce energy that impacts you and the people around you. If you work on creating more positive energy, you’ll see improvements in your life and you’ll touch more lives than you thought possible.” – TinyBuddha.com
Now, how can you easily create positive energy?
Something that takes just seconds of your time and leaves everyone involved feeling happy – give compliments! It’s so simple and yet has such a huge impact. Don’t under-estimate the power of a simple compliment. It can change someone’s day, make them feel like they matter, and boost their self-confidence.
Compliments are easy to give and cost you nothing.
BONUS: They’re good for the giver too because they involve noticing the good in other people and the more you do that the better you get at seeing the positive in your everyday life.
Here are a few guidelines for giving compliments:
- Be sincere. If you don’t mean it, don’t say it.
- Be completely complimentary. If you find yourself saying, but or however, it’s turning into a backhanded compliment and could be taken as an insult.
- Speak from the heart, let your feelings shine through.
“When you see something beautiful in someone, tell them. It may take you a second to say it, but for them, it could last a lifetime.” – unknown
Try it out and see how it makes you feel. Set a goal to give a few compliments every day to random people.

As always, I’d appreciate it if you would help me get the word out about the Matt Kurtz Kindness Award of $250 (nominate someone who inspires you) and the Matt Kurtz Kindness Grant of $250 (submit an act of kindness you would do with $250).
I always smile a little wider when I see your blog in my email. Jackie, your thoughts and sharing add a lightness to my day! Playing it forward.
Yep..seems like such an easy thing to do….Kind words are uplifting and make you feel good but cruel words can bring you down and crush your spirit…..be kind, not cruel..it’s not that hard…
Jackie, you always make me focus on how I’ve been treating people, all people. I strive to be a non-judgemental and remember that everyone has a back story. No one is more important than another.
